Wimbledon, England (Sports Network) - Reigning champion and five-time overall winner Serena Williams and last years runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska were a pair of routine second-round victors Thursday at Wimbledon. The world No. 1 superstar Williams rolled past 19-year-old Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia 6-3, 6-2 in 67 minutes at the All England Club. The American great smacked nine aces and was not broken in the predictable matchup. "Shes incredibly promising, she does everything well," Williams said of Garcia. "Her serve is amazing, so I knew it would be a good match on the grass." Williams was among those restoring order at the years third Grand Slam event just one day after five former world No. 1 women exited the draw via upset or injury, including former champion Maria Sharapova and reigning two-time Australian Open titlist Victoria Azarenka. The 31-year-old Williams is now riding a career-best 33-match winning streak and is a brilliant 76-3 since losing in the first round at last years French Open. Williams is also the reigning French and U.S. Open champion and owns 16 Grand Slam singles titles overall. She beat Radwanska in last years final here to capture her third Wimbledon title in four years and also captured an Olympic gold medal at the All England Club last summer. Her third-round opponent will be 42-year-old Japanese Kimiko Date-Krumm, who is the oldest woman to reach the third round at Wimbledon in the Open Era. "I dont know how shes able to do so well," Williams said. Meanwhile, the fourth-seeded Radwanska improved to 8-1 at Wimbledon over the last two years by blasting Frances Mathilde Johansson 6-1, 6-3. The Poles third-round opponent will be promising American Madison Keys. Former Grand Slam champs Li Na and Samantha Stosur also reached the round of 32. The sixth-seeded Li posted a 6-2, 1-6, 6-0 victory over previously hot Romanian Simona Halep. The bottom half of the draw was turned upside down on Wednesday, when the second-seeded Azarenka, third-seeded Sharapova and ninth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki all exited. Petra Kvitova, the 2011 Wimbledon champ, was the only top-10 seed in the bottom half to survive the carnage and did so thanks to a walkover win against Yaroslava Shvedova. Halep could have posed a problem for Li, as she entered the All England Club after capturing titles each of the past two weeks -- first in Nuremberg and then in Den Bosch. After dominating the second set by winning 28 of the 40 points played, Halep was no match in the third as the 2011 French Open champ turned the tables and won 28-of-42 points. Li had lost in the second round at Wimbledon each of the last two years after a quarterfinal appearance in 2010, and was coming off a second-round loss at this months French Open after a runner-up finish at the Australian Open. Up next for Li will be Czech slugger Klara Zakopalova. Stosur, the 2011 U.S. Open champ, had little trouble for the second match in a row this week. The 14th-seeded Australian cruised past Russian Olga Puchkova, 6-2, 6-2, after a 6-1, 6-3 rout of Slovak Anna Schmiedlova in the first round. The competition will get a little tougher for Stosur in the third round, as Sabine Lisicki now awaits. The 23rd-seeded German, a Wimbledon semifinalist in 2011 and twice a quarterfinalist in the London suburb, thumped Russian veteran Elena Vesnina, 6-3, 6-1. Eleventh-seeded Italian Roberta Vinci snuck into the third round with a 6-1, 4-6, 9-7 decision against Slovak Jana Cepelova, while other winners Thursday included 18th-seeded Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova, a 32nd-seeded Zakopalova, Keys, Date-Krumm, Croat Petra Martic, New Zealands Marina Erakovic, and Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova. Cibulkova needed just 49 minutes to dispatch Spains Maria Teresa Torro-Flor, 6-0, 6-1; Zakopalova topped German Annika Beck 7-6 (7-5), 6-3; Erakovic upended 24th-seeded Chinese Peng Shuai 7-6 (8-6), 6-2; Keys knocked out 30th- seeded German Mona Barthel 6-4, 6-2; Date-Krumm advanced with a 6-4, 7-5 triumph over Romanias Alexandra Cadantu; Martic claimed a 7-6 (9-7), 6-1 win over Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic; and Pironkova downed Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 7-5, 6-3. Pironkova was a semifinalist here in 2010 and quarterfinalist in 2011. Three second-round matches, including one for seventh-seeded German Angelique Kerber, were postponed because of rain on Thursday -- surprisingly the first rain stoppage of the fortnight. The third round will commence Friday, including matches for an eighth-seeded Kvitova, 15th-seeded former Wimbledon runner-up Marion Bartoli and 17th-seeded American Sloane Stephens, who will take on Czech Petra Cetkovska. Also on the Day-5 schedule will be rising Canadian Eugenie Bouchard and giant- killer Michelle Larcher de Brito, who shocked the former Wimbledon champ Sharapova on Wednesday. Zach Randolph scored 20 points and the Grizzlies set a low-scoring pace in shutting down the Hawks 79-76 Saturday night. Memphiss one free throw attempt is the record low since the shot-clock era was introduced in 1954-55, according to STATS. Memphis players were astonished to see only one free throw on their stat line. "Wow! Wow! Wow!" Randolph said. "That whole game -- wow!" Randolph said he appreciated the officials allowing the physical play. "But sometimes, if there is a foul, call it," he said. "But, you know, let us play." Courtney Lee, who had 14 points, made the Grizzlies only free throw in the third period. The officials called only 22 fouls -- 12 against Memphis and 10 against Atlanta, which made 8 of 15 free throws. The Hawks were held to a combined 25 points in the second and third periods and set a season scoring low after leading 29-27 following the first period. The Hawks, who were held almost 27 points below their average of 102.7, had a scoring flurry to open the game but couldnt maintain the pace. "I think I looked up, they had 22," Memphis coach Dave Joerger said. "From that point forward they had 54 total. So we really clamped down." Paul Millsap had 20 points and 11 rebounds for Atlanta, which has lost three straight. The Grizzlies ended a two-game skid. Atlantas Lou Williams missed a 3-pointer with about 1 second remaining. Memphis has held eight straight road opponents to no more than 90 points. The Grizzlies, one game under .500 at home, are 14-8 on the road. Nick Calathes scored 10 points for Memphis. Millsap was scoreless in the second half before his back-to-back baskets cut Memphis lead to 77-72 with 1:58 remaining. He added a 3-pointer with 39 seconds remaining to get Atlanta within three points. A miss by Marc Gasol gave Atlanta the chance for a ttying final basket.dddddddddddd As the Hawks passed the ball around the perimeter, coach Mike Budenholzer tried to call for a timeout before Williams missed the 3-pointer. "I wanted the timeout and I wasnt granted the timeout," Budenholzer said. The Grizzlies 79 points are the fewest allowed by Atlanta this season. "To hold a team to 79 points is a good thing in this league," Budenholzer said. "Offensively, we have to get to our pace and the way we want to play. Its a credit to Memphis. They want to play a slow-down game." Atlanta led 52-50 before Memphis closed the third period with an 11-2 run, including 3-pointers by Lee, Gasol and Mike Miller for a 61-54 lead. Playing against the team that drafted him in the first round in 2009, DeMarre Carroll scored nine of Atlantas first 17 points as the Hawks were sharp in the opening period. A 3-pointer by Millsap pushed Atlantas lead to double figures for the first time at 22-12, and baskets by Elton Brand and Williams extended the advantage to 14 points. Memphis scored the next 10 points as part of a 15-3 run to close the period. Back-to-back baskets by James Johnson gave Memphis its only lead of the half at 31-29. The Grizzlies lost the momentum as the Hawks led 43-37 at halftime. Kyle Korver extended his NBA record to 118 consecutive games with a 3-pointer when he sank a jumper beyond the arc less than 3 minutes into the game.
