(SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks may not be at the very top of the NHL standings, but they recently showed they can run with the leagues elite. The Blackhawks and Sharks both aim to build off recent victories on Saturday night when they clash in San Jose. Chicago and San Jose are coming off wins over the Anaheim Ducks, who lead the NHL in points with 70. The Sharks topped their division rivals 6-3 on Thursday, while the Blackhawks handed the Ducks a 4-1 setback last night. San Jose got 25 saves from Antti Niemi and goals from six different skaters in picking up the home win. Joe Pavelski had a power-play goal and Brenden Dillon scored shorthanded. Patrick Marleau, Barclay Goodrow and James Sheppard each tallied a goal and an assist as the Sharks moved to 3-1-1 on a seven-game homestand. Special teams got us going and it was good to see, Pavelski said after scoring for a third game in a row. The Sharks are second in the Pacific Division with 58 points, one ahead of the Vancouver Canucks and 12 back of the Ducks. San Jose didnt lose ground in the race for first place thanks to Chicagos victory last night. Patrick Kane scored twice and had an assist on Friday versus the Ducks, while Patrick Sharp assisted on all four goals. Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith lit the lamp as well, while Corey Crawford finished with 21 saves. The Blackhawks, who were up 3-0 entering the third, blew three one-goal leads in Wednesdays 4-3 loss at Los Angeles, and perhaps thoughts of that game entered their minds when Anaheim finally scored with 9:54 remaining. But Kane put Chicago back up by three with 6:35 left as Chicago won for the third time in four games. I thought that fourth goal was a big goal for us, said Chicago coach Joel Quenneville. The Blackhawks, who play the fourth of a seven-game road trip tonight, have a four-point edge over the Winnipeg Jets for third place in the Central Division and are two points behind St. Louis in the division standings. The Hawks won the first of three meetings with the Sharks this season 5-2 at Chicago on Nov. 9. Toews had a goal and an assist and Crawford made 32 saves. Backup Antti Raanta is expected to start tonight for Chicago and face San Jose for the first time. He is a solid 7-3-0 on the campaign with a 1.87 goals against average, .939 save percentage and two shutouts in 11 games (10 starts) overall. Pavelski had both of the Sharks goals versus the Blackhawks, Joe Thornton had two assists and Niemi yielded all four goals on 36 shots. Niemi fell to 6-7-1 versus Chicago with a 2.94 GAA and.910 save percentage in 14 games. Alex Killorn Lightning Jersey .C. -- The Carolina Hurricanes have activated defenceman Joni Pitkanen from injured reserve. Ondrej Palat Lightning Jersey . The goals took Liverpools tally in the Premier League this season to 70, overtaking Manchester City as the top scorers, and left the fourth-place team just four points behind league leader Chelsea. http://www.lightninghockeystore.us/Louis-Domingue-Jersey/. Despite 11-1 records, theyre out and Big Ten winner Ohio State is into the national semifinals. Brayden Point Jersey . Auld made 37 saves in a 5-3 loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday. It was Ottawas first game without starter Anderson, who is out indefinitely after cutting his hand Wednesday night, and it was evident the team wasnt sure how to deal with the change in goal. Yanni Gourde Lightning Jersey . Mired in an offensive slump, Lowry - the NBAs leader in taking charges this season - did what he has learned to do best, standing his ground and drawing a crucial offensive foul on the Cavaliers all-star point guard. Fast forward 30 seconds to the Cavs next possession, with the home team still trailing by three, Spencer Hawes - one of the leagues best passing big men - threw an interception, intended for Tyler Zeller and picked off by DeMar DeRozan.(SportsNetwork.com) - The New Orleans Pelicans hope to have young star Anthony Davis back in the lineup Tuesday versus the Utah Jazz. Davis suffered a bruised chest in the first quarter of Fridays win over Cleveland and did not return. He then missed Sundays 128-122 overtime loss to the streaking Golden State Warriors and is questionable tonight. The talented big man is averaging 24.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. New Orleans had the Warriors, the NBAs best team, on the ropes and was outscored by a 17-11 difference in OT. Warriors guard Stephen Curry poured in 34 points and Klay Thompson added 29. Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday scored 34 and 30 points, respectively, in defeat and Ryan Anderson netted 15 for the Pelicans, who shot 46.5 percent and had won three of their previous four games. New Orleans shot better than 50 percent over the first three quarters, but was a combined 11-of-30 in the fourth quarter and overtime. Our guys fought their tails off tonight, we just came up short, Pelicans coach Monty Williams said. Evans is averaging 16.9 ppg and has scored 30 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. Evans tallied 31 points in the win over the Cavaliers. The Pelicans are 7-3 at hhome and will visit Houston next on Thursday.dddddddddddd Utah has lost five in a row on the road and opened a nine-day, six-game trek with Sundays 93-84 setback to the Washington Wizards. Alec Burks scored 19 points, Gordon Hayward added 16 and Trey Burke finished with 15 points for the Jazz, who made only 38.5 percent and lost for the 11th time in the past 12 games. The Jazz are 2-9 on the road and their 17 turnovers led to 25 Washington points. They took better care of the ball and executed better, Jazz first-year head coach Quin Snyder said. We shot ourselves in the foot. The Jazz will also visit Miami, Orlando, Charlotte and Memphis on the jaunt. Utah forward Derrick Favors missed the game with an ankle injury suffered Friday against the Heat. Favors played about 10 minutes and is averaging 15.2 points and 8.2 rebounds. He is questionable against the Pelicans. The Jazz and Pelicans will play the second of three meetings this season, and New Orleans tallied a 106-94 triumph in Salt Lake City on Nov. 22 thanks to Davis career-best 43 points on 16-of-23 shooting and 14 rebounds. Hayward countered Davis with 31 points in that one for Utah. Utah and New Orleans split the 2013-14 regular season series 2-2. ' ' '
