Fort Worth, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jimmie Johnson won Sundays AAA Texas 500 while championship contenders Jeff Gordon and Brad Keselowski as well as their teams were involved in a post-race fight on pit road after the two clashed in the closing laps at Texas Motor Speedway. Johnson scored his record fourth Sprint Cup Series win at Texas, including his third straight in the fall race here, after he grabbed the lead from Gordon following the first of two green-white-checkered finish attempts and then held off Keselowski and Kevin Harvick in the second two-lap overtime finish. Gordon had taken the lead from Johnson in the closing laps. After choosing to restart in the outside lane for the first green-white-checkered finish, Gordon collided with Keselowski and suffered a flat tire, which caused him to spin out and hit the wall. That allowed Johnson to take the lead for good. Johnson, who led 191 of 341 laps, scored his fourth victory of the season but his first since June at Michigan, snapping an 18-race winless streak. It was also his 70th career win in the series. Johnson claimed his sixth Sprint Cup championship in 2013, but the Hendrick Motorsports driver was eliminated from this years Chase for the Sprint Cup championship after the second round (Contender Round). We should be a Chase driver, Johnson said. We just had a slow start to the Chase. Last week, we were testing at Homestead, and that really got our car under me like I look for and what I need. We brought all those things here and qualified third and won the race. We are back on track. Unfortunately, we didnt find this stuff a month or two ago, but that is the way racing goes. Harvick grabbed second from Keselowski on the final lap but crossed the finish line 0.5 seconds behind Johnson. Keselowski finished third, followed by Kyle Busch and Jamie McMurray. Busch was attempting to win all three NASCAR national touring series races at Texas this weekend after taking Fridays Camping World Truck Series event and Saturdays Nationwide Series race. Gordon, who ended up finishing one lap down in 29th, approached Keselowski on pit road, as the two exchanged heated words. Then a wild skirmish between both drivers and their pit crews ensued. Punches were thrown during their altercation, and both Gordon and Keselowski appeared to have blood on their faces following the incident. There was a hole, and I went for it, Keselowski said of his contact with Gordon after the second-to-last restart. It closed up, and we bounced off each other and kept going. It was just a battle for the win. Gordon didnt see it that way, as he was irate at Keselowski. We went down into turn 1, and I just wanted to get on the outside of the 48 (Johnson), and out of nowhere, I just got slammed by the 2 (Keselowski), and it cut my left-rear tire, Gordon said. Hes just a dip (expletive). The way he races, I dont know how hes ever won a championship. Im just sick and tired. Thats why everyone is fighting him and running him down. Three weeks ago at Charlotte, Keselowski was involved in a post-race altercation with Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth. Following the last restart with two laps there, Keselowski and Hamlin tangled multiple times while battling for position. Keselowski then retaliated against Hamlin by bumping him from behind and attempting to spin him out during the cool-down lap. Keselowski also ran into the back of Kenseth when both drivers were driving onto pit road after the race had concluded. Keselowski continued his antics on pit road by hitting the rear of Tony Stewarts car, but Stewart retaliated by putting it in reverse and slamming into the front of Keselowskis vehicle. Then the scuffles began in the garage area. Three days after the Chase race at Charlotte, NASCAR fined Keselowski $50,000 and placed him on probation for four races for his actions. Ive been through a lot of rivalries, and Ive got a little blood on me right now, Keselowski said. Ive been roughed up and put in the grandstands and wrecked and done all of that stuff, but Im still here fighting. Im not going to change the way I race. I race with 100 percent intensity and go for the win, and thats what our fans deserve in NASCAR. Sundays race at Texas was the second event in the Eliminator Round of the Chase. The elimination race in this round is next Sunday at Phoenix. After Phoenix, the Chase field will feature just four drivers battling for the championship in the Nov. 16 season-finale at Homestead. The highest finisher of the four there will win the title. Gordon came to Texas with the points lead but dropped to fourth in the Chase standings, only one point ahead of fifth-place Kenseth, who finished 25th. Its emotion that is a part of this Chase and this format as well as towards people that make dumb decisions, Gordon said. (Keselowski) has been making a lot of them lately. Joey Logano, who is Keselowskis teammate at Team Penske, and Hamlin are tied for the points lead heading to Phoenix. Logano finished 12th and Hamlin 10th. Ryan Newman is two points behind following his 15th-place run. Carl Edwards finished ninth, placing him sixth in points (-13). Keselowski holds the seventh spot (-17), followed by Harvick (-18). Armstrong told Britains Daily Mail newspaper in an interview published Monday that Verbruggen insisted "weve got to come up with something" to explain his positive tests for a banned corticosteroid. Cyclings governing body, the UCI, appeared to ignore its own anti-doping rules when it accepted Armstrongs backdated prescription for a cream to treat saddle sores. That allowed Armstrong to continue in the race and he went on to win the first of his seven Tours, helping revive the sport after doping scandals wrecked the 1998 Tour. "The real problem was, the sport was on life support," Armstrong was quoted telling the newspaper. "And Hein just said, This is a real problem for me, this is the knockout punch for our sport ... so weve got to come up with something. So we backdated the prescription." Though Armstrong has acknowledged the prescription excuse in a television interview with Oprah Winfrey, he had not previously linked Verbruggen or other UCI officials with a coverup. Verbruggen, who served as UCI president until 2005, did not respond to phone messages on Monday. The Dutch official, who is still listed by the UCI as its honorary president, has long denied any collusion with Armstrong despite widespread claims the American rider was protected. Verbruggen was granted honorary membership by the IOC in 2008 after 12 years service, and will complete his duties as chairman of the Olympic Broadcasting Service after the Sochi Winter Games in February. The IOC responded cautiously to Armstrongs allegations. "It is hard to give any credibility to the claims of a cyclist who appears to have misled the world for decades," the Olympic body said in a statement Monday.dddddddddddd. "That said, the UCI is currently working on plans to investigate the matter more thoroughly and we await proper considered outcomes from this investigation rather than on rumour and accusation." Armstrong spoke out while the UCI is in the process of creating an independent commission that will examine alleged official collusion, and he is expected to be the star witness. Armstrong, who is seeking a reduction in his lifetime ban, told the Daily Mail that he would reveal details of how the UCI operated. "I have no loyalty toward them," he said. "In the proper forum Ill tell everyone what they want to know. Im not going to lie to protect these guys. I hate them. They threw me under the bus." In October 2012, the UCI decided not to challenge a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency verdict to strip Armstrong of his Tour titles and ban him for life. Verbruggens successor, Pat McQuaid, said the disgraced rider deserved to be forgotten by the sport. The UCI has been led since September by British official Brian Cookson, who defeated McQuaid in a presidential election where the Armstrong case and cyclings doping past were central issues. In a statement Monday, the UCI said its commission would "invite individuals to provide evidence." "We would urge all those involved to come forward and help the Commission in its work in the best interests of the sport of cycling," the governing body said. "This investigation is essential to the well-being of cycling in fully understanding the doping culture of the past, the role of the UCI at that time and helping us all to move forward to a clean and healthy future." Gary Neville says he is surprised if Jose Mourinho has criticised Chris Smalling, but thinks Luke Shaw needs to mature at Manchester United. Mourinho appeared to be critical of Smalling and Shaw when he said after the 3-1 win over Swansea on Sunday that he only wants players who are willing to put their bodies on the line. Both Smalling and Shaw were left out of the squad for the match due to not being 100 per cent. Former Manchester United defender Neville worked with Smalling for several years while he was assistant manager with England.I find it difficult to believe he has ever been anything other than completely committed to wanting to get out on the training pitch every day, said the Sky Sports pundit at the Red Bull Street Style event, where he was a judge. So I am not quite sure what Jose has seen, but he is the manager of the club and has to make the calls he sees fit. Skys James Cooper has the latest on how Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is dealing with Luke Shaw Having worked with him for four years he has always been incredibly impeccable and trust worthy, someone I always felt would run through a brick wall, so I am surprised by that one.Shaw joined United in 2014 from Southampton but has only returned to the first team this season after breaking his leg last September.I think Luke is a more complex character, said Neville. He is young, has moved away from Southampton, and he needs to mature physically and mentally. Having worked with him for four years he has always been incredibly impeccable and trust worthy, someone I always felt would run through a brick wall, so I am surprised by that one. Gary Neville on Chris Smalling He is such a huge talent but obviously has had injury problems and is not over them from a mental point of view and he needs to work on that.He is a young person with big expectation, but he is now in the spotlight at a big club, and Manchester United doesnt take prisoners. Stitched Authentic Jerseys .Y. - The NFL has fined Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch $20,000 for making an obscene gesture during last Sundays NFC championship game, a person with knowledge of the fine told The Associated Press on Thursday. RENTON, Wash. -- So much for concern that running back Marshawn Lynch would be absent from the Seattle Seahawks minicamp. Shortly after the first day of minicamp began for the Super Bowl champions on Tuesday, Lynch strolled from the Seahawks locker room with his No. 24 jersey pulled over a hooded sweatshirt. Lynch was just a spectator, spending most of his day chomping on sunflower seeds and chatting with teammates. But he was in attendance, avoiding the potential of being fined nearly $70,000 for skipping the mandatory team workouts. "We expected him to be here and he was here," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. Reports surfaced last week that Lynch might consider not attending the practices in hopes of getting a higher salary for the 2014 season. Lynch signed a four-year contract before the 2012 season. He is scheduled to make $5 million in base salary this season plus per-game roster bonuses. Carroll declined to discuss any conversations with Lynch about his contract. "There is nothing in our conversations about that, the business side of it that well talk about," Carroll said. "There is no reason to. We havent talked about other guys in that regard so were not doing that now." Lynch was not available to speak as he sat out the practice with a sore ankle, according to Carroll. Lynch had not been present for Seattles organized team activities and because of a sore ankle, Carroll said it would be unlikely his running back would be on the field during minicamp. Seattles plan is to make sure Lynch is healthy for the season opener against Green Bay on Sept. 4, which will be a very light load of carries during training camp and the preseason. Even though the Seahawks staff at various times during the off-season has expressed getting more carries for reserves Robert Turbin and Christine Michael, Carroll reiterated that Seattles run game begins with Lynch. Lynch has rushed for at least 1,200 yards in each of the past three regular seasons. Hes gotten at least 285 carriies in each of those three seasons and last season during Seattles title run finished the year with 366 carries combined between the regular season and playoffs.dddddddddddd. That was the fourth-most combined carries for any running back since 2009. "We have rested him a lot in the off-season. He takes a big pounding during the year. It takes him a long time to get his body back to where he doesnt feel the rigours of the season thats past," Carroll said. "In this case its unique but he is a unique player and he has a unique role on our football team, so we have to do what we have to do to take care of him." Lynch could have faced significant fines if he decided not to attend minicamp, but he has shown previously he does not enjoy losing money through fines. Last season, Lynch begrudgingly began speaking to the media during the playoffs in an effort to avoid hefty fines from the league. That included memorable sessions during Super Bowl week where he answered questions for about 20 combined minutes during three days of league-mandated media availability. "Marshawn has really been the guy for us and we love everything about the way he plays and what he brings to this team. Hes never taken a step backward at any time for us in all the years hes been here," Carroll said. "From the day we went after him and got him we had sights on him becoming the player that he has become and he has never disappointed us. Hopefully hell be really healthy and ready to go at the season start and if we have accomplished that with this off-season that will be very successful for him and for our team." NOTES: LB Bruce Irvin, who had hip surgery in early June, was the only player not in attendance. ... Rookie WR Paul Richardson was a full participant after being limited in recent off-season workouts with a sore shoulder. ... Veteran DT Kevin Williams was a full participant one day after signing his contract with the Seahawks after spending his entire career with Minnesota. ' ' '

Eddie Jones admits he will have a few “sleepless nights” over England selection for their clash with Argentina after a comprehensive win over Fiji. England made it 11 wins out of 11 under head coach Jones as they beat Fiji 58-15 at Twickenham on Saturday, scoring nine tries in the process. England vs Argentina November 26, 2016, 1:30pm Live on Get Sky Sports Get a Sky Sports pass Jones was pleased with the contribution of several of his side and says he has much to think about ahead of Englands third autumn Test against Argentina next Saturday, live on Sky Sports 2 We are starting to get an understanding of how we can develop our attacking style, Jones told Sky Sports. There were some great lines run by George Ford, the back three attack well, it was great to see the wingers with the ball in their hands in space, rather than right against the touchline which is what we are trying to do, so some really good movements. We wanted total control and total control meant that the middle five George [Ford] and Owen [Farrell] created space for the outside five and they did that and they created the space that allowed those guys to look very good. Those guys dont look good unless the work is done on the inside. Eddie Jones says England have competition for places I thought we had a number of good players. I thought [Chris] Robshaw just does all those things that you dont see and that makes a game like this. I thought George Ford was really good, his alignment was great.Roko [Semesa Rokoduguni] did well, playing against a winger twice his size. [Nemani] Nadolo looks like hes eaten Roko a couple of times so I thought he did well. Elliot [Daly] keeps impressing. We have got great competition for places so it is going to be a couple of sleepless nights before we do selection. And well name the side on Thursday this week - well, that is what we are aiming to do. Jones was impressed by George Fords performance against Fiji Jones gave his side a six out of 10 rating when England beat South Africa last weekend but says they were better against Fiji.Definitely better than six, we played against a good side, he said. They are a dangerous side and you just have to look at their World Cup record. They were beaten by 10 points by Wales, 23-13, Australia beat them 28-13. They are a very competitive, skilful, athletic team.We put close to 60 points on them and it was the first time we dont kick any goals. So, a good performance - areas to work on, of course, like any game, but a good performance. Highlights of Englands Autumn International clash against Fiji at Twickenham. England have leaked 10 tries in their last three games but Jones says they are adjusting their game and expects defensive issues to improve. The game of rugby is evolving and I think youve got to be able to adjust your defence and we are going through an adjustment period at the moment, he said. We are working very hard on it, we are making adjustments and we will keep on getting better. Semesa Rokoduguni dives to score Englands third try Defence - you have got to do the principles right, it is the same in attack, youve got to be square, youve got to get off the line and be aware of the threats around you. We are just missing doing some of those things sometimes and other things other times and well get that right.Jones believes Argentina will pose England a real threat at Twickenham next weekend and says preparation for the clash began immediately after the win.He said: Because it is the next game of course it is [the toughest autumn test]. They were probably the second best side in the Rugby Championship even though the results didnt show that. Semesa Rokoduguni and Jonathan Joseph analyse Englands convincing win over Fiji at Twickenham. Theyve restructured their game considerably since the 2007 World Cup where basically they were mauling and were a kick and chase side. Now they play a much more unstructured game which makes them dangerous.Theyve got some outstanding players in the No 8 [Facundo] Isa and the two half backs and [Nicolás] Sanchez at 10 so we are really going to have to be at the top of our game to beat Argentina next week but that all starts right now. STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State was crushed twice by Florida last season, once by 35 points and the other by 25. This time around, the margin was just 11. That represents progress for Mississippi State, which lost 62-51 to No. 3 Florida on Thursday night, but the gap between the Gators and the Bulldogs is still vast. "Our team is growing," Mississippi State coach Rick Ray said. "But weve still got a ways to go." Mississippi State (13-7, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) lost for the first time at home during conference play. Colin Borchert scored 15 and Craig Sword 12 for Mississippi State. Casey Prather scored 16 points, Patric Young added 12 and the Gators used a 16-4 run early in the second half to turn a tight game into a relatively easy victory. Florida has won 12 straight this season and four in a row against the Bulldogs. It was the 12th time this season Florida (18-2, 7-0) held an opponent to 60 points or fewer. "We cant always control the ball going in the basket," Young said. "But we can control our energy on the defensive end." And that energy was intense the entire night. Mississippi State shot a respectable 23 of 54 (42.6 per cent) from the field, but had to work hard on every possession. The Bulldogs briefly took a 31-30 lead early in the second half on Gavin Wares layup, but the Gators responded with a 16-4 run. Mississippi State couldnt muster the energy for a rally. Florida coach Billy Donovan said the key to stopping Mississippi State was keeping them off the free throw line. The Bulldogs had 117 combined free-throw attempts in three SEC home games this season. They were just 1 of 6 on Thursday. "A huge key was if we could defend them off the bounce and not foul," Donovan said. "I thought we did a good job there." Floridas Michael Frazier II had just nine points, but his three 3-pointers helped the Gators keep a comfortable lead throughout most of the second half. The 6-foot-4 sophomore missed his first six 3-point attempts before the last three dropped. The Gators shot 6 of 20 (30 per cent) from 3-point range and 8 of 19 (42.1 per cent) on free throws. Chris Walker, Floridas touted 6-foot-10 freshman forward, is expected to make his college debut on Tuesday against Missouri after being cleared by the NCAA. His arrival will give the Gators some much needed frontcourt depth. But Young was enough on Thursday. The powerful 6-foot-9, 240-pound senior was a consistent presence on both ends of the court, providing timely baskets and post defence. "No disrespect to Mississippi State, but theyre probably not going to win an SEC championship this year," Young said. "We have an opportunity to do that, and we need to play to a championship level." Prather went to the locker room briefly in the first half after an ankle injury, but returned to shoot 7 of 8 from the field. His baseline drive and dunk gave the Gators a 55-42 lead with 5 minutes left that ended any remaining doubt. Mississippi State had an 11-1 record at Humphrey Coliseum coming into Thursdays game and was tough once again on its home floor. Tyson Cunningham made an off-balance 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down to spark an 8-0 run at the end of the first half, and I.J. Readys layup a few seconds before the buzzer pulled the Bulldogs within 27-26. Florida was coming off a dominant defensive performance in a 67-41 victory over Tennessee on Saturday, and the teams length and athleticism also gave the Bulldogs problems. But the Gators couldnt hit shots -- making just 10 of 27 (37 per cent) from the field in the first half. Nothing was easy. Young hit a couple inside buckets early in the second half and Prathers layup at the rim gave the Gators a 42-32 advantage with 12:05 remaining. Mississippi State had a couple of good moments in the second half, but Floridas superior depth, size and athleticism proved too much to overcome. Ready added 10 points for the Bulldogs. "Offensively we had our problems," Mississippi State coach Rick Ray. "I thought we had a plethora of opportunities in the first half to finish at the rim that we just didnt get done." They rallied to tie the score late but Colorados three shooters scored in the shootout to end a three-game losing streak. He was in the room when we come off the ice, Toronto coach Randy Carlyle said. He was walking around, hes fine. Its one of those situations where youre expecting a lot worse and he isnt any worse for wear.Alex Tanguay also scored in regulation and had the decisive goal in the shootout. Nathan MacKinnon had the other shootout goal and Nick Holden scored his first goal of the season. We wanted it tonight. We need to want it more than the other team, said Matt Duchene, who had one of the shootout goals to go with one in regulation. Thats what we did last year. Its been tough at times this year, thats when you really have to be a man and step up and make it happen.Reto Berra had 33 saves through overtime in his first start in six games. Its an important win for us. We had a great game, an outstanding start of the game, coach Patrick Roy said. We were outstanding with 12 shots in the first 10 minutes. Plenty of good chances and looks at the net and their goalie had plenty of good saves. That was overshadowed by Winniks injury suffered when he collided with Avalanche defenceman Jan Hejda near the Colorado blue line. He fell awkwardly on the right side of his head and shoulder and flipped onto his front. He lay motionless while trainers from both teams secured him on a backboard and took him off the ice.The team reported on Twitter that Winnik was alert and moving all of his extremities while being examined by the team doctor. The team said Winnik was not transported to the hospital but he did not return. That was one of the most scary things Ive been a part of and watched live, Toronto defenceman Dion Phaneuf said. Anytime a teammate gets hurt its something that effects you, but when you see the stretcher come out and hes motionless thats something you dont want to go through as a team. Were really happy to see him uup walking around and he seems to be fine.ddddddddddddTyler Bozak scored in regulation and had Torontos only goal in the shootout. Phil Kessel and Richard Panik also scored for the Maple Leafs.Duchene gave Colorado a 3-2 lead with a wraparound goal at 11:45 of the third. Toronto pulled goalie Jonathan Bernier with 1:29 left and Panik scored 16 seconds later on a shot off defenceman Nate Guenins skate to send it to overtime.Bernier finished with 31 saves. It seems like thats our luck this year, Duchene said. We do so much to score and we cant get anything to go, we only get a few to go and they pull the goalie and we have guys in great position and it hits (Guenins skate) and goes in. It was going four feet wide.Winniks injury came immediately after Holden scored 31 seconds into the game to give the Avalanche an early lead for the second straight game.Toronto was able to overcome Winniks injury and get back in the game. Kessel tied it with his seventh of the season when he batted a puck out of the air and past Berra with 3:40 left in the period. The next few shifts youre trying to get back into it, Phaneuf said.Bozak gave Toronto the lead when he scored a power-play goal at 4:43 of the second. Colorado had killed off 29 consecutive penalties before Bozaks tally. Tanguay responded a minute later when he got a stretch pass from Zach Redmond behind the Maple Leafs defence and beat Bernier on a breakaway.Toronto controlled play in the final minutes of the second. The Leafs nearly scored when the puck went under Berra and stopped in the crease but was lost under a pile of bodies.Toronto then held the puck in Colorados zone for nearly two minutes but couldnt score.Toronto lost defenceman Jake Gardiner later in the first when he took a puck off his right leg and missed the rest of the game. Team officials said he suffered a lower body injury. He has a deep bone bruise. Its not broken, Carlyle said. DALLAS -- Former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent wasnt drunk, as police contend, when he wrecked his Mercedes in a crash that killed a teammate, Brents lawyer told jurors Monday at the start of his trial. Brent was "guilty of being stupid behind the wheel of a car," not driving drunk on the night of the December 2012 crash that killed his close friend and teammate, Jerry Brown, defence attorney George Milner said. Milners opening remarks signalled that he would try to discredit evidence of Brents drinking central to the states case, including a blood test that allegedly pegged Brents blood alcohol content at more than twice the legal limit and dash cam video that jurors saw Monday showing Brent failing a field sobriety test at the scene. If convicted of intoxication manslaughter or manslaughter, Brent could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. Milner argued in his opening statement that the tall, lumbering Brent, who was a 320-pound lineman when he played for the Cowboys, could drink more than the average person without becoming intoxicated. "Josh Brent is as big as a house," Milner said. "Hes got a heart -- better yet a mind -- of a person much younger than he really is." Prosecutor Heath Harris said receipts would prove that on the night of the crash, Brent bought cocktails with several shots of liquor in them and three bottles of Champagne at a night club. Brent told officers right after the crash that he hadnt had any hard liquor. "This is not a difficult case, ladies and gentlemen," Harris said. "There will be no disputing the fact that he was drinking that night." Dash cam video played for the jury Monday showed an officer asking Brent about how much he had had to drink while paramedics were trying to save Brown, a linebacker on the Cowboys practice squad who was also a teammate of Brents at the University of Illinois. "Ive had a reasonable amount," Brent is heard saying on the video. The officer, Kevin Palms, testified that Brent had watery eyes, an odour of alcohol and occasional issues with speaking. The video shows a field sobriety test in which Brent occasionally stumbles as he tries to walk in a straight line and takes more steps than the officer asked. But Milner told jurors during his opening remarks that nobody could have passed a field sobriety test after such a fiery wreck. Brent suffered scrapes to his head in the crash, and the video shows him taking the test with a wrap around his head. "Nobodys going to be able to do the tricks on the side of the road" after a crash of that severity, Milner said. Milner raised several alternate reasons for Brent failing the tests: His size made it hard for him to balance, the powder from his cars air bags made his eyes watery, and the crash had a lingering impact on him. Palms started to grow exasperated as Milner repeatedly questioned why officers made him take the tests. "We gave him every opportunity to go to the hospital," Palms said. "If he says no, (paramedics) cant force him to go. Am I supposed to just let him walk home?" Brents attorney has argued his client deserves probation, and Browns mother says she has forgiven her sons college teammate and friend. But prosecutors have made Brents case a priority, and it comes on the heels of another well-publicized case in neighbouring Tarrant County in which a teenage driver was sentenced to probation in a drunken crash that killed four people. Brent, a defensive tackle, had played in all 12 games of the 2012 NFL season prior to the crash. He retired in July. Brown was signed to the Cowboys practice squad that season. Vapormax Plus Canada . Vapormax Moc 2 Canada . PETERSBURG, Fla.COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Michael Frazier II got one directive from his Florida teammates against South Carolina -- whenever he saw daylight on the court, let the ball fly. The result was a school-record 11 3-pointers -- the most ever in a Southeastern Conference game -- and career-high 37 points as Frazier helped the top-ranked Gators move a game away from a perfect SEC regular season with a 72-46 victory over South Carolina on Tuesday night. "They told me if I got a crack to let it go," Frazier said. That was the easy part for Frazier, the sophomore who frequently found himself open and made the Gamecocks pay. "Somehow, some way we didnt express to our players that Michael Frazier can shoot the basketball," South Carolina coach Frank Martin said. The Gators (28-2, 17-0 SEC) are a game away from going undefeated in the SEC, something no team not named Kentucky has accomplished since Alabamas 14-0 run in 1956. Florida coach Billy Donovan shrugged that off, preaching his players will take the same approach to Saturdays Senior Day meetings with the Wildcats as they have each game all season. "I still think theres things in front of this team," he said. "We cant get wrapped up in the moment." Fraziers performance topped the 1986 mark of Floridas Joe Lawrence, who had nine against California. It was also the most ever in a league contest, although Rotnei Clarke hit 13 in 2010 and Alex Dillard made 12 in 1994 but both Arkansas players did it against non-conference opponents. Frazier didnt feel anything special in warm-ups, but knew he was onto something with his five 3-pointers in the first half. In the second half, it was Frazier who broke things open with four 3s during a 23-5 run after the Gamecocks (11-19, 4-13) had cut a double-digit lead to 39-35. "We were just really amazed at how open he was getting and how he kept knocking them down," Florida centre Patric Young said. No other Gator reached double digits in points. Mindaugus Kacinas had 12 points to lead South Carolina, which was coming off a win over Kentucky. Frazier blew past his old career best off 21 points set earlier this season against Texas A&M.dddddddddddd He was 11 of 18 from 3-point range while the rest of the Gators were 0 of 13. The Gators built an 11-point lead early in the second half but Brenton Williams had a four-point play and followed with a 3-pointer to get the Gamecocks within 39-35 with 13:05 left. But Frazier connected on a 3, Young had a three-point play and the rout was on. Frazier added four more 3-pointers over the next 6 minutes to stretch the lead to 62-39 with 4:42 left. As time wound down, South Carolina students chanted "Georgia Southern," reminding the Gators of their football loss to the FCS school last fall. Florida came in having clinched the SEC regular-season title last week when second-place Kentucky was beaten twice, including a surprise 72-67 loss here to the Gamecocks last Saturday. The Gators steadily moved through in pushing to the unbeaten conference season, a run that started in January with a 74-58 win over South Carolina. Florida, though, has not dominated on the road the way it has at home in recent weeks, winning its past four road games by an average of six points. This one proved just as tight for the top-ranked team in the first half. Frazier started off hot with two of his five first-half 3-pointers to give the Gators a 7-0 lead. Floridas defence forced three turnovers in the first 5 minutes. But the Gamecocks, still fresh from the court-storming celebration three days ago, took Floridas punch and came out swinging themselves with a 12-2 run to move in front and stayed with the nations top team the rest of the half. There were four ties and five lead changes over the final 10 minutes and it was Frazier who broke the last tie with his last 3 of the period to send the Gators to the break ahead 28-26. Frazier had 15 points in the period as the rest of Floridas big guns misfired in the opening half. Leading scorer Casey Prather was held to one free throw while Scottie Wilbekin was just 1-of-5 shooting for two points. Young finished with nine points and Prather had seven. Wilbekin did not score in the second half. ' ' '

ATLANTA -- The Colorado Rockies began another day without Carlos Gonzalez in their starting lineup with the more daunting knowledge Nolan Arenado will be missing for much longer. The Rockies placed Arenado on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, one day after he broke his left middle finger on a head-first slide into second base. The team recalled infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Arenado was hitting .305 with six homers and 28 RBIs. A decision on surgery or other treatment options wont be made until the third baseman is examined by a specialist. Arenado said Saturday he knew the finger was broken as soon as he made the slide in Fridays 3-2 loss to the Braves. "I kind of feel like Im letting these guys down a little bit," Arenado said. "That hurts a little bit." Manager Walt Weiss said he knew Arenado was upset "so I shot him a text late last night." "At some point, if youre lucky enough to play long enough, youre probably going to have to deal with an injury," Weiss said. "And sometimes a substantial one. Hes got to keep his mind strong and be ready to help us when he gets ready." Charlie Culberson, who replaced Arenado on Friday, was starting at third base Saturday. Meanwhile, Gonzalez missed his third straight start with a swollen left index finger.ddddddddddddWeiss said he didnt want to give Gonzalez a full game but said the outfielder was available to pinch-hit. Gonzalez was on deck to pinch-hit when Fridays game ended. Rutledge has played second base and shortstop this season. He was placed on the 15-day DL on May 2 with a viral infection, then was optioned to Colorado Springs on May 13. The addition of Rutledge gives Colorado the flexibility to move D.J. LeMahieu from second base to third. "Weve got some moving parts here so well mix and match at little bit," Weiss said. "Some of those things tend to work themselves out, but weve got some options. "Sure, D.J.s got some history at third base. Hes playing a Gold Glove second base. You dont necessarily want to move a guy thats playing dominant defence like he is, but for our club that may be something we look to do." Right fielder Michael Cuddyer started 150 games at third with Minnesota from 2002-10. "Ill play anywhere anyone ever tells me," Cuddyer said before adding: "But there are some positions that for the betterment of the team ..." Cuddyer didnt complete the thought, but it was clear he didnt expect to be looking for a third base glove anytime soon. ' ' '

Hours after Dallas was defeated in Green Bay, the player at the centre of that games most memorable sequence spoke for millions of other football followers than just the Cowboys and their frustrated fans.We lost and I accept it, wide receiver Dez Bryant tweeted, but please change that rule. His leaping 31-yard reception on fourth down landed at the 1 in the waning minutes, but the call was overturned by a Packers challenge and Green Bay took a 26-21 victory to the NFC championship game.Dallas had many other opportunities to win and the rule was widely deemed to be interpreted correctly, so the latest NFL controversy wasnt about a team getting a raw deal from the refs.Rather, this was the conundrum: a spectacular catch that passed the eye test for most people watching, but failed to satisfy the leagues complex rule book. The spotlight Sunday fell on Rule 8, Section 1, Article 3, Item 1:If a player goes to the ground in the act of catching a pass (with or without contact by an opponent), he must maintain control of the ball throughout the process of contacting the ground, whether in the field of play or the end zone. If he loses control of the ball, and the ball touches the ground before he regains control, the pass is incomplete. If he regains control prior to the ball touching the ground, the pass is complete. The biggest beef raised by Bryant and the Cowboys was that the ball only came loose when it hit the ground near the pylon. He had full possession as he took his stumbling steps toward the goal line, but because by definition he was considered to still be falling then that didnt count toward completion of the catch. The rule was put in place to make such calls easier for officials on the field. The leagues vice-president of officiating, Dean Blandino, said Sunday that Bryants football move of stretching his arm toward the goal line was not obvious enough. If we make this a catch, then where do we draw the line with a lot of other plays where its clearly incomplete by rule? Blandino said on the NFL Network. It can be become even more inconsistent.Since this happened at such a pivotal point of such an important game, strict parameters will likely stay in first place on the publics list of gripes for a while. There are worthy competitors for the most rued rule, though:— Excessive celebration.New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Grahams signature crossbar slam dunk in the back of the end zone was the most recent creative act to land on the no-no list. Entertainment is what pulls so many millions of people into these games each Sunday during the season, and the NFLs various attempts to limit on-field flamboyance following touchdowns or even sacks have triggered many a complaint. The derisive No Fun League nickname rose out of this eye-rolling exasperation decades ago.— Defensive pass interference. The NCAAs punishment is 15 yards, but the NFL puts the ball at the spot of the foul, even if that happens to be inches from the end zone after a 40 or 50-yard penalty. Without replay reviews allowed in these cases and much contention about whats allowable for down-field contact and whats not, the pass interference flag is perhaps the most debated in the sport. So theres no worse feeling for the offending team, or its fans, to see the opponent get first and goal with disagreement with the call in the first place.— Tackling.Everyone is for player safety, of course, and the frightening amount of post-career health problems in this violent game have prompted the league to tighten standards for pressuring the quarterback, bringing down the ball carrier and covering the receiver. With the crackdown on hard hits, especially those to and with the head, has come confusion from defensive players in recent years about what theyre allowed to do to keep the offence from beating them. Slowing by a half-step in this ultra-fast sport to make sure a tackle or a hit is legal will inevitably lead to a whiff and a long gain. There are always contrarians to the consensus, of course.NFL analyst Cris Carter, the Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver, said Monday on ESPN radio that hes a strong proponent of the process-of-catch rule.It really helps clear it up, Carter said. Hand the ball to the referee.Rules that might have outlived their usefulness or become unnecessarily unwieldy to most were once installed for legitimate reasons. In 2010, a few weeks after a controversial incompletion that went against Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions, a similar non-catch to Bryants, NFL competition committee co-chairman Rich McKay acknowledged the difficulty of the rule.It was made for on-field officials, McKay said, not as much for people watching on TV.___AP NFL websites: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP_NFL Cheap NHL Jerseys Authentic . - Chris Davis hit a two-run double, scoring Nelson Cruz in his Orioles debut in Baltimores 9-7 win over to the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. TORONTO -- Marlies coach Steve Spott called Sundays 3-2 victory over the St. Johns IceCaps a wake-up call. The Marlies started slow and couldve easily gone behind 2-0 if it wasnt for the solid play of goaltender Drew MacIntyre, who picked up his league-leading 13th win. "I think as a coach sometimes, you come off of Friday night (a 4-1 win over Hamilton) and you praise your hockey club and you give them accolades on how hard they played and how hard they worked," Spott said. "Then they come in to a game like this today and theyre like boy were OK, we can just show up, put on our skates and play." David Broll picked up the winner as the Marlies (14-9-1) defeated the IceCaps (15-11-3) for the second time this season. With the loss, St. Johns saw their three-game win streak snapped. Carter Ashton and Brad Ross had the other goals for Toronto while Andrew Gordon and Brenden Kichton replied for St. Johns. "I said to our team after theres going to be games that well lose this year and Ill be OK with how we played, but theres going to be games we win where I wont feel too good and this was one of these games," Spott said. With goaltender Eddie Pasquale missing his second straight game due to a groin injury, Michael Hutchinson made his debut for the IceCaps Saturday. Hutchinson went 13-2-2 in 17 games with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL prior to being recalled Friday. Hutchinson made 17 saves in his first loss of the season while MacIntyre made 31 saves in the win. "We were really bad. Were starting to realize the way that we have to play," said MacIntyre, who received the game puck from Spott for the first time this season. "We just have to be more consistent, not so much with our effort, but with our mental game. I think our mental game, we kind of think that were a different team than we are." Broll beat Hutchinson short side at 7:52 of the third for his second of the season and the eventual game-winner. Gordon tied it 2-2 for St. Johns at 5:55 of the third, beating MacIntyre with his 10th of the season. Ashton, who was assigned to the Marlies on Saturday by the Leafs, gave Toronto a 2-1 lead, short-handed, at 1:49 of the third period, beating Hutchinson with a shot from the slot for his fourth of the season. Ross got Toronto on the board, tying it 1-1, with 39 seconds remaining in the second, putting home the rebound off a T.J. Brennan point shot. The IceCaps opened the scoring 5:04 into the second period as Kichton picked up his sixth of the season, beating Drew MacIntyre with a screened shot. Kael Mouillierat had an excellent chance to give the IceCaps a 2-0 lead at 14:52 of the middle frame on a breakaway, but was robbed by the glove of MacIntyre. "He made a nice move, he kind of took it and tried to change the angle," said MacIntyre. "Thats such a tough play cause you dont know if hes going to come back. You cant take the bait totally. Then the Giants bats came alive, Arizonas bullpen wilted, and San Francisco rallied from four runs down to beat the Diamondbacks 9-8 on Buster Poseys two-run home run off new closer Addison Reed in the ninth inning. "I think we want to be a team that keeps grinding and keeps pushing," Posey said. "It was nice to be able to do that tonight right out of the chute to give us that confidence that when we get down we know we have the ability to come back." Poseys star turn didnt surprise Giants starter Madison Bumgarner, who left after giving up four unearned runs in four innings. "Hes on a different level, man," Bumgarner said. "Hes so good and hes been that good since day one. Its fun to watch him play every day." Posey had no experience against Reed, who came to the Diamondbacks in an off-season trade from the Chicago White Sox. "Ive never faced him before, spring training or anything," Posey said. "I was really just trying to get a pitch I can handle." He got it on a fastball that he sent over the left field wall. "For us to come back and win a game like that, it just shows you, you go hard for nine innings ," Bochy said. "These guys did and got some big hits later in the game. It seemed like it got contagious, then Buster came through for us in a big way. It was the season opener for San Francisco and the first true home game for the Diamondbacks, who started the season with two losses as the home team against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Australia. Miguel Montero, who had three hits and reached base five times, homered to lead off the Arizona ninth and make it a one-run game. Brandon Belt had three hits, including a solo home run, and singled ahead of Poseys homer. Arizona scored four unearned runs off Bumgarner in the fourth and led 7-3 after six. San Francisco got four runs with two outs in the seventh, with reliever Brad Ziegler walking in the tying run. Jean Machi (1-0) pitched 1 2-3 innings of relief to get the victory.dddddddddddd. Reed (0-1), acquired from the Chicago White Sox in the off-season, got the loss. Sergio Romo, who gave up the home run to Montero, earned the save. After Monteros shot to left, Chris Owings reached on a bunt single and was sacrificed to second by Gerardo Parra. Pinch-hitter Eric Chavez struck out and A.J. Pollock, who has started the season 0 for 13, popped out to end it. Pollock was 0 for 6 with four strikeouts. In the Giants big seventh, pinch-hitter Ehire Adrianza doubled in a run, ending Arizona starter Brandon McCarthys night. McCarthy was livid about home plate umpire Tom Hallions call of a ball on a 2-2 pitch just before the double. "There was a call in the seventh that changed the entire outlook of the game," McCarthy said. "We all have to execute after that point but ... it kind of leaves a bitter taste." Oliver Perez came in and gave up three hits without an out, including an RBI double by Angel Pagans RBI double and Pablo Sandovals run-scoring single. Ziegler relieved Perez and gave up a single to Posey to load the bases, then walked Hunter Pence for the tying run. Arizonas four-run fourth inning opened with a fielding error by second baseman Joaquin Arias on Mark Trumbos groundball. Montero hit a bouncer to the third baseman Sandoval, who bobbled it just long enough for Trumbo to make it to second. The Diamondbacks greeted reliever Yusmeiro Petit with four consecutive hits in the fifth, including a leadoff double by Martin Prado, followed by Trumbos RBI single. Parra got his third RBI of the night with a ground out and Arizona led 6-2. The Diamondbacks got their seventh run after the Giants botched a rundown play between first and second. NOTES: Arizonas Goldschmidt extended his hitting streak to 22 games, dating to last season. ... McCarthy struck out the side in the first. He did that once last season, April 16 against the Yankees. ... The Giants opened on the road for the fifth straight year. ... On Tuesday night, Wade Miley (0-1) pitches for Arizona, Matt Cain goes for the San Francisco. ' ' '

Simpson birdied two of the first three holes Sunday, pulling away for a six-stroke win in the second event of the season. "One over through three yesterday and 2 under today felt like a huge difference," Simpson said. "And it was because it really let me slow down and pace myself, and you know, try to let the guys come after me." Winning for the first time since the 2012 U.S. Open, Simpson closed with a 5-under 66 in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. He finished at 24-under 260 after opening with rounds of 64, 63 and 67 to take a four-stroke lead into the final round. "As we were going kind of middle of the round, pins were tough, greens were drying out and I knew it would take a really special round for somebody to shoot 7, 8 under," Simpson said. "So, I felt like I was in control, and I asked my caddie, once I hit it on the green on 17 where we stood. And I was just thankful that I was able to kind of manage my golf ball the last couple rounds." Simpson earned $1.08 million for his fourth PGA Tour title. In addition to the U.S. Open last year at The Olympic Club, he won the Wyndham Championship and Deutsche Bank Championship in 2011. Ryo Ishikawa and Jason Bohn tied for second. Ishikawa, the Japanese player who had to play the Web.com Tour Finals to regain his PGA Tour card, shot aa 65.dddddddddddd "I wish I could made a couple putts, like three putts," Ishikawa said. "I missed a lot of putts this week, like 10 feet, 15 feet, 20 feet. I missed a lot. But still, Im pretty happy with that result." Bohn had a 66. Charley Hoffman was fourth at 17 under after a 64. "When you get that far up the leaderboard every putt you make is worth big dollars and big FedEx Cup points," Hoffman said. "So, to get the year started off on the right foot, you always want to make those putts." Chesson Hadley, second entering the final round, had a 70 to drop into a tie for fifth at 16 under with Luke Guthrie, Troy Matteson and Charles Howell III. "I was certainly nervous out there today, but I was able just to kind of hang in there," Hadley said. Guthrie and Matteson shot 64, and Howell had a 65. Matteson had seven straight birdies -- on Nos. 9-15 -- to fall one short of the tournament record set by Jerry Kelly in 2003. "It was a really good ball-striking round," Matteson said. "As a matter of fact, when I got to 16, I thought I was going to get that eighth one and I ended up hitting the pin and almost going into the lake, so I would have had a tap-in there. But you know what, all in all its a great end to my week. I didnt quite figure it out in the middle (of the tournament), but I certainly put it together today." Calgarys Stephen Ames closed with a 69, leaving him 18 shots back at 278. ' ' '

PRETORIA, South Africa -- The murder trial of Oscar Pistorius has been delayed until April 7 because one of the legal experts who will assist the judge in reaching a verdict is sick, abruptly ending expectations Friday that the double-amputee athlete was about to testify on his fatal shooting of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Judge Thokozile Masipa announced the delay in court on the day Pistorius defence lawyers were due to begin presenting their case after four weeks of prosecution-led testimony and a two-day adjournment. "One of my assessors is not well, so this court is not properly constituted," Masipa said. "I suggest that we postpone this matter until the seventh of April." Masipa has two assessors who sit on either side of her in the Pretoria courtroom. South Africa does not have a jury system, and Masipa will deliver a verdict with help from the two assessors, who have limited roles in the day-to-day court proceedings but are there to help Masipa reach a decision. Pistorius faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted of premeditated murder for killing Steenkamp, and also could be sent to prison for years if convicted of murder without premeditation or negligent killing. Pistorius says he shot Steenkamp by accident, mistaking her for an intruder in his home and opening fire through a closed toilet door in the early hours of Feb. 14, 2013. Prosecutors say he killed her after a Valentines Day argument. The world-famous athlete pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and also not guilty to three other firearm-related counts. After prosecutors wrapped up their case against the Olympian this week, one of the defence lawyers said Pistorius would likely testify. Legal experts say Pistorius, 27, is expected to testify because he has admitted killing Steenkamp, 29, and must explain to the court why so it can take his version into account. Its common in South Africa for the defendant to be the first person the defence calls, the experts said, unless there are exceptional reasons why another witness should testify ahead of him. When Pistorius testifies he would also open himself up to cross-examination and likely uncomfortable questions from chief prosecutor Gerrie Nel. College Jerseys Outlet . SUNDERLAND, England -- Connor Wickham made it five goals in three games as Sunderland moved out of the Premier League relegation zone with a 4-0 victory over 10-man Cardiff on Sunday. The 21-year-old Wickham headed Sunderland into a 26th-minute lead --to add to the double he scored at Manchester City and his strike in last weekends win at Chelsea -- and then sealed the win with a late header. He played a key role in the second goal too, as he forced defender Juan Cala into the ill-judged challenge which cost him a red card and his side a penalty. Fabio Borini made no mistake from the spot and substitute Emanuele Giaccherini added a third 14 minutes from time. It was just Sunderlands fourth league victory at the Stadium of Light in 17 attempts. But more importantly, it lifted the Black Cats from the foot of the table and out of the bottom three, albeit only on goal difference, as they leapfrogged Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich.
